    Antwerp, Christian Nagel Art Gallery

Not much is currently going on in art in Antwerp. Most galleries and art spaces will restart the art-season the second week of September. The integrations by Jan van Riet at KMSKA are not my cup of tea. KMSKA will be closed from October 4 for an extensive renovation, but the empty museum will be the decor for a Kiefer exhibition starting October 23, something to look forward to.Gallery Christian Nagel started in Koln in 1990, opened a second space in Berlin in 2002 and in May 2010 a third space in Antwerp. It is located in the Lange Kievitstraat, very close to the central station. Currently on view is New Art from Belgium with Carla Arocha – Stéphane Schraenen, Vaast Colson, Isabelle Copet, Xavier Mary, Ives Maes, Daniel dos Santos and Dennis Tyfus. Below a few pictures of this exhibition and of the area in which the Gallery is located.

    Antwerp, Middelheimmuseum
It’s a visual feast to visit the Middelheimmuseum on a sunny Sunday. The permanent collection counts over 400 sculptures of celebrated artists like Henry Moore, Rik Wouters, Alexander Calder, Barbara Hepworth, Thomas Schutte, Ossip Zadkine etcetera. And currently there is an interesting temporary exhibition on view, ‘New Monuments’, with amongst others Kendell Geers, Wesley Meuris, Jan de Cock and Nick Ervinck, which merges seamlessly into the sculpture park. A couple of hours is not enough, i need to go back soon.  Here a selection of pictures:
